Nifty breaches 22,000 ahead of F&O expiry; Midcaps crack| Vodafone Idea in focus| Closing Bell.

BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices fell 2 percent each.

Nifty skids below 22,000 as index clocks triple-digit loss ahead expiry. Mid & smallcaps see deeper cuts; shed over 1.5% each. India VIX rises nearly 3%; NSE advance-decline ratio is at almost 1:6 .All sectors trading with losses; realty, PSU banks & autos worst hit. On February 28, the Sensex was down 790.34 points or 1.08 percent at 72,304.88, and the Nifty was down 247.10 points or 1.11 percent at 21,951.20. About 664 shares advanced, 2627 shares declined, and 65 shares unchanged.

Benchmark indices ended lower on February 28 with Nifty below 22,000 amid selling across the sectors. At close, the Sensex was down 790.34 points or 1.08 percent at 72,304.88, and the Nifty was down 247.10 points or 1.11 percent at 21,951.20.
